Hellisheiði Geothermal Power Station
Our day begins with a visit to Hellisheiðarvirkjun, one of the world’s largest geothermal plants. Enjoy a short guided tour, learn how Iceland uses underground heat to generate sustainable power, and take in the impressive mountain views.
Time on site: approximately 30 minutes
Kerið Volcanic Crater
Next, we visit the striking Kerið Crater, a turquoise lake nestled inside red volcanic rock. Located in the Grímsnes area, this lesser-known highlight is a true Scenic Iceland experience.
Time on site: approximately 30 minutes
Geysir & Strokkur Hot Springs
No Golden Circle tour is complete without a visit to Geysir, the original geyser. In this geothermal valley, you’ll see Strokkur erupt every few minutes — sometimes over 30 meters high.
This is one of Iceland’s most iconic photo stops.
Gullfoss Waterfall
Just a short drive away is Gullfoss, a breathtaking two-tiered waterfall fed by glacial waters. View it from above and feel the spray — a powerful and unforgettable experience.
Laugarvatn Lake & Cultural Site
We’ll make a relaxing stop at Laugarvatn, a shallow geothermal lake kept warm by natural hot springs. There’s also a nearby cultural center where guests can learn more about the area.
Þingvellir National Park
Our final stop is Þingvellir, one of Iceland’s most treasured sites — both historically and geologically. It’s where the Althing, the world’s oldest parliament, was founded in the year 930.
You’ll walk between two tectonic plates at the Almannagjá Rift and see Iceland’s largest natural lake, Þingvallavatn.
Return to Reykjavík:
Arrival back in Reykjavík between 4:30–5:30 PM.
