A 2-Day South Coast Tour and Glacier Adventure

Join Our Iceland Tour and Explore Glaciers, Waterfalls, and Volcanoes

This 2-day journey along Iceland’s incredible South Coast is the perfect combination of dramatic landscapes, cultural storytelling, and glacier adventure. You’ll travel through Iceland’s most iconic natural wonders, including Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls, the famous Reynisfjara black sand beach, and the awe-inspiring Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, located in Vatnajökull National Park—home to the largest glacier in Europe.

Depending on the season, you’ll either explore a magical crystal blue ice cave (October–April) or embark on a glacier hike across ancient ice formations (May–September), led by a certified glacier guide. If the Northern Lights appear during your stay, our guides will be ready to take you to the best viewing spots.

Along the way, your guide will share fascinating stories from Icelandic history and the Viking Sagas. You’ll enjoy Icelandic music and have a chance to taste local culinary specialties. This tour blends nature, culture, and comfort—designed to give you an unforgettable experience of Iceland’s wild beauty.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1 – South Coast Adventure & Glacier Views

We begin by picking you up from your hotel in Reykjavík at approximately 8:00 AM. From there, we head directly along the breathtaking South Coast of Iceland, where you’ll witness some of the most spectacular landscapes in the country.

Stops include:

  • Seljalandsfoss Waterfall
Walk behind this stunning waterfall – just be sure to bring waterproof clothing!

  • Skógafoss Waterfall
One of Iceland’s most iconic falls. Towering 60 meters high, it’s an amazing photo stop. You can climb the stairs to the top for a panoramic view.

  • Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach
Famous for its pitch-black volcanic sand and striking basalt columns. Offshore sea stacks make this one of the most photographed spots in Iceland.

  • Jökulsárlón – Glacier Lagoon
The deepest lake in Iceland (approx. 300m), filled with enormous icebergs calving off the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier. A scene from James Bond and other major films was shot here.

  • Diamond Beach
Located right by Jökulsárlón, this beach is covered in crystal-clear ice chunks glistening like diamonds against the black sand.

  • Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon
A dramatic and beautiful canyon with breathtaking views.

  • Eldhraun Lava Field
Explore the largest lava field in recorded history—an alien landscape that looks like something from another planet.

We end the day by checking into a cozy hotel nestled beneath the mighty Vatnajökull Glacier, where you’ll have a private room and included breakfast. If the Northern Lights appear, your guide will help you find the best spot to enjoy this unforgettable natural show.

Day 2 – Glacier Adventure: Ice Cave or Glacier Hike

After breakfast, we return to Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, where massive blue and white icebergs float in the serene glacial waters.

From here, you’ll meet your certified glacier guide and begin your adventure—depending on the season:

Option 1: Ice Cave Tour (October – April)
Ride in a special super jeep into the glacier’s remote, icy terrain. Enter the famous Crystal Blue Ice Cave, an ethereal world of sapphire-colored walls and unique ice formations. You’ll be provided with all necessary glacier gear and expert guidance to safely explore this frozen wonder.

Option 2: Glacier Hike (May – September)
Hike across the surface of Breiðamerkurjökull, a glacial tongue of Vatnajökull. With safety equipment and instruction provided, you’ll experience fresh mountain air, panoramic glacier views, and natural ice formations as you learn about Iceland’s ever-changing landscape.

After your glacier tour, we’ll stop for a light lunch at a café or food stand near the lagoon (not included in tour price).

On the way back to Reykjavík, we make several scenic stops—including a return to Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon and Eldhraun Lava Field—before arriving in the city around 8:00 PM.

📸 Photography Tip: Conditions are exceptional throughout this tour, offering countless photo opportunities of waterfalls, beaches, canyons, glaciers, and auroras.

Perfect for:

Glacier Adventure – Ice Cave or Glacier Hike

Depending on the season, your glacier adventure will take you either deep into an ice cave or onto the ancient ice of a glacier hike. Both experiences are led by certified glacier guides, with all safety gear provided.

❄️ Ice Cave Tour (October – April)

The Crystal Blue Ice Cave Adventure is a truly unique and off-the-beaten-path experience. Ride in a rugged super jeep across the icy wilderness of Vatnajökull, Europe’s largest glacier.

With the help of your professional glacier guide, you’ll explore a stunning natural ice cave with vivid blue and white formations — an otherworldly environment shaped by the forces of nature. All necessary equipment is provided, and safety is the top priority.

🥾 Glacier Hike (May – September)

If visiting outside the ice cave season, you’ll hike on Breiðamerkurjökull, a part of Vatnajökull. This tour offers an unforgettable opportunity to experience the glacier from above — walking across ice ridges, crevasses, and snow-covered terrain with panoramic views of Iceland’s untouched wilderness.

Your guide will share insights about glacier formation, climate, and geology along the way. This hike is suitable for anyone in moderate physical shape.

What to Bring for Your Glacier Adventure

To ensure your safety and comfort while exploring Iceland’s South Coast and glaciers, please come prepared with the right gear. Weather and terrain conditions can change quickly — proper clothing makes all the difference!

 Essentials:

  • Warm hiking clothes (fleece or wool recommended)

  • Windproof and waterproof jacket and trousers

  • Hiking boots with ankle support and warm socks
(You can rent boots from us if needed)

  • Hat and gloves (warm and weather-resistant)

  • Packed lunch and snacks (energy-rich items like chocolate)

  • Water bottle

  • Camera (optional)

 Important Notes:

  • No jeans – Denim absorbs moisture easily and takes a long time to dry. Wet jeans = cold, uncomfortable day.

  • Dress in layers for maximum flexibility and warmth.

  • Don’t forget to charge your phone or camera — the photo ops are endless!

 Food Info:

Lunch is not included in the tour price. On Day 2, after the glacier activity, we’ll stop at a local café or food stands near the lagoon for a light lunch.
